Explaining this is kind of a mouthful, so don't bother if you aren't interested
IN SHORT
the one on the right is dying /right now/ because she's in love
IN MEDIUM
-These two are the only survivors of the unique past they shared, giving them both horrible brain trauma.
-The one on the right inhaled a spore that mutated with the chemicals unique to her brain (and the fella on the right) and took root in the areas of her brain that responds to emotion.
-she spent most of her life being treated in hospitals to keep both the spore and the trauma under control. while his went untreated.
-but when they reunited, it was inevitable for them to fall in love. They shunned the world and ran off together
-With the increased emotional activity and the lack of treatment, the spore inside Vera (vira?) got out of control and grew violently, destroying much of her body in the process.

I like this piece because it's meant to look like this is all happening at once instead of gradually, and she's pulling him in tightly with the vines (though not as much as i would have preferred, but i'm not used to drawings like this)
